Overview

The Department of Facilities Operations Site Protection at Princeton University is searching for an experienced Access Control Systems Field Specialist. This position will report to the Manager of Security and Access Control Systems. The Security Access Control Field Specialist will be responsible for oversight of key physical security projects at the University. The successful candidate will ensure new building physical security system installations meet design intent as well as University design standards. Upon successful awarding of physical security projects, the position will be responsible for field coordination and project oversight through final acceptance testing of the systems. The successful candidate will work with primary stakeholders, including but limited to, Department of Public Safety, University Housing, and the Office of Capital Planning who rely on Site Protection to provide exceptional service and reliable systems regarding access control and security systems. This position will not have any direct reports.

Responsibilities

On-site Construction support:

  • Provide project oversight including coordinating telecommunications to electrical contractors, OIT, inside trade personnel, and outside contractors of the University as pertains to door hardware and system implementations.
  • Report on construction sites during all phases to evaluate security installation progress.
  • Review architectural drawings and designs for new and renovated buildings during installation phases.
  • Oversee security integrator vendors on job sites to ensure all electrified components and devices are installed to standard.

Project installation and turnover support:

  • Oversight of the workflow management for all Campus Access control & Stand-Alone Locking system installations.
  • Coordinate Campus Access Control & Stand-Alone locking system Acceptance Test Procedures.
  • Assist with project turnover support with end users within affiliated departments.
  • Administrative Duties:
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation including campus maps for current device locations.
  • Develop a detailed project workflow report to track and evaluate progress.
  • Notify system administrators of programming additions/changes.
  • Contributes to the overall success of the department by performing other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Background in the field of physical electronic security with strong project management skills, for at least 10 years.
  • Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience with design prints and system components.
  • Possess exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, and be able to effectively interact with a wide variety of customers both within and outside the Facilities Department.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment with flexibility and composure.
  • Solid organizational and multi-tasking skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Strong electrified door hardware and ADA requirement experience pertaining to door operator applications, door openings, and push/pull compliance.
  • Experience in managing large access control and life safety projects.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat PDF, and virtual meeting platforms including Zoom and Microsoft Teams.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or related Vocational School Certification
  • Familiarity with Computer Maintenance Systems (CMS), i.e., Maximo
  • Nationally Recognized Project Management Tools and Certification
  • Familiarity with CCure 9000
