The Storekeeper at Yeh College checks incoming food products and supplies to ensure satisfactory delivery.  Stores goods in temperature-controlled areas to prevent spoilage.  Physically delivers food products and staples to various units within Campus Dining.  Monitors and ensures safekeeping and security of products to prevent theft and other losses.

 

Schedule: 6am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

 

Saturday and Sunday off

Responsibilities

  • Receives, unpacks and sorts incoming shipments. Inspects products for quality and damage. Checks and verifies shipment against bill of lading.
  • Stores stock in storeroom at proper temperature and maintains a constant rotation of stock through the FIFO (first-in/first-out) method.
  •  Packs, wraps, boxes or crates materials to be shipped.
  • May load or unload merchandise from cars or trucks.
  • Makes deliveries in University vehicles of food products and supplies.
  • Reports security and safety violations to supervisors.
  • Performs other duties as directed by supervisors.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

• A High School Diploma or equivalent
• 1-3 years of experience in delivery driving, warehouse stocking and receiving, and inventory control, preferably in a food service environment.
• Valid driver’s license. Ability to drive trucks, vans and box trucks with a lift gate and maintain a forklift certification.
• NJDOT Medical Examiners Certificate

This position involves operation of a commercial motor vehicle over 10,000 lbs GVWR and is subject to U.S. DOT/FMCSA regulations. Candidate must meet all applicable non-CDL DOT requirements, including maintaining a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate

Must possess a valid DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate (Medical Card) or the ability to obtain one prior to start date - FMCS - Medical Examiner's Certificate

Must possess a valid permanent driver’s license (non-provisional, non-probationary, non-interim) issued by US State ( International Drivers License are not acceptable)

 

• Ability to handle products in a safe manner, in accordance with New Jersey State Food Safety Guidelines.
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative in handling and distributing supplies.
• Familiarity with principles of sanitation in storage and rotation of stock and supplies.
• Must be able to interpret specifications on purchase orders and invoices.
• Must be accurate and prompt in receiving stock and filling requisitions of supplies.
• Must have initiative and judgment in handling and issuing supplies.
• Ability to be accurate in making simple arithmetic calculations.
• Ability to work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Requirements

• Some stockroom experience is desirable.


Essential Job Functions:

1. Stand or walk up to 2 hours at one time for a total of 6-8 hours per day

2. Sit for less than 2 hours during an 8 hour day;

3. Drive for no more than 30 minutes at one time

4. Lift or carry up to 50 pounds in a range of motions from floor to overhead frequently (34 – 64% of the workday)

5. Lift or carry up to 75 pounds occasionally (less than 33 % of the workday)

6. Push or pull using forces up to 75 pounds to waist height occasionally (less than 33% of the workday)

7. Frequently use hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, or pulling (34 – 66% of the workday)

8. Kneel, climb stairs or ladders, or knee stand occasionally (less than 33% of the work day);

9. Reach or lift overheard, bend, or squat frequently (33 – 66% of the workday);

10. Work on loading docks under variety of environmental conditions, and under a variety of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk-in refrigerators and freezers, etc.);

11. Possess ability to work at heights, physical agility and full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance.
