Possessing comprehensive theoretical and practical working knowledge, the Senior DDC Controls Technician installs, services, maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and programs a variety of campus DDC and pneumatic building control systems to effectively maintain HVAC comfort, ensure maximum energy conservation and prevent system and equipment failures. As needed, the incumbent may assume the duties of HVAC Controls Shop Supervisor.
The Landscaper position provides assistance in support of the Campus Grounds Operations by maintaining, preserving and improving the university grounds. Always follows all University safety rules and regulations and is proficient in basic grounds maintenance, horticultural practices and landscaping operations. This position’s normal workweek is Monday – Friday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm. Based on business needs, other work schedules may be assigned or required. Level of position and pay will be commensurate with experience, knowledge, and needs of the department.
The Department of Facilities Operations Site Protection at Princeton University is searching for an experienced Access Control Systems Field Specialist. This position will report to the Manager of Security and Access Control Systems. The Security Access Control Field Specialist will be responsible for oversight of key physical security projects at the University. The successful candidate will ensure new building physical security system installations meet design intent as well as University design standards. Upon successful awarding of physical security projects, the position will be responsible for field coordination and project oversight through final acceptance testing of the systems. The successful candidate will work with primary stakeholders, including but limited to, Department of Public Safety, University Housing, and the Office of Capital Planning who rely on Site Protection to provide exceptional service and reliable systems regarding access control and security systems. This position will not have any direct reports.

DPS operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is comprised of 111 staff members. The department consists of professional University police, security officers, dispatchers and administrators dedicated to providing best-in-class service to the community. DPS was originally recognized and awarded Law Enforcement Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) in July 2015 and subsequently awarded reaccreditation status in July 2018 and July 25, 2022. CALEA serves as the “International Gold Standard for Public Safety Agencies” and oversees a rigorous accreditation process. In addition, DPS was awarded accreditation status on March 14, 2019 and subsequently awarded reaccreditation status on March 10, 2022 by the New Jersey State Association of Chiefs of Police Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission (NJLEAC). These awards are a mark of professional excellence and signifies that we have earned these distinguished honors through continued compliance with CALEA/NJLEAC Standards. Throughout these processes, we established and implemented policies and practices that meet or exceed the National and State standards, to serve both the Department and the community well in the future. POSITION OVERVIEW Reporting to the Security Operations Manager (SOM) or the Assistant Security Operations Manager (ASOM), the Head Museum Security Supervisor (HSS) provides administrative and management oversight of 5 Cultural Property Security Supervisors (CPSS) who supervise 58 security officers. The HSS schedules, trains, and supervises appropriate staff to secure the Princeton University Art Museum (Museum) and its collections, as well as provide for the safety and comfort of visitors during the Museum’s open hours and at special events. The HSS is the primary on-site staff member providing day-to-day supervision for the Museum’s security operation and assuring a positive customer service experience for all Museum visitors. This position provides guidance and monitors the work assignments of, and provides training to, all security staff in the Museum. Supervision of the security staff includes establishing posts, post orders, and function of the control room. Control room supervision includes monitoring alarms and video, badging visitors, key control, dispatching, coordination with Department of Public Safety (DPS) staff at DPS Headquarters located at 200 Elm Drive, and other coordinating functions as required. The HSS takes a lead role in serving the Museum’s visitors and making them feel safe and welcome during their time in the Museum. The HSS works closely with the SOM/ASOM in preparing staffing and training plans and establishing priorities to meet institutional goals with the most effective and economical utilization of personnel, technology, and equipment. DPS is a 24/7, 365-day operation. The successful candidate must be able to work ALL shifts, including weekends, holidays, and overtime shifts, as required.

DPS sworn University Police Officers have the authority of commissioned police officers with full power of arrest deriving their law enforcement authority from New Jersey statutes (Title 18A, Sections 6-4.2 and 6-4.5) and the Trustees of Princeton University. Title 18A, Section 6-4.5 provides that sworn University Police Officers “shall possess all the powers of policemen and constables in criminal cases and offenses against the law anywhere in the State of New Jersey [including the powers of arrest], pursuant to any limitations as may be imposed by the governing body of the institution which appointed and commissioned the person.” DPS sworn University Police Officers are licensed law enforcement officers as defined in NJSA 52:17B-67. University Police Officers are required to complete the same police academies and annual training as their municipal counterparts. This training has been approved and authorized by the State of New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice Police Training Commission. Our University police officers, who are unarmed on a daily basis, have access to a police service rifle in limited situations. Police officers may access service rifles when there is an in-progress threat with an individual brandishing a firearm, an active shooter, or an individual actively committing serious bodily injury or death with a deadly weapon on or “contiguous” to campus. All police officers have qualified with a firearm while at the police academy and are required to attend mandatory in-service firearms training throughout the year to enable them to perform more efficiently and more safely. DPS has 52 sworn officers including the Assistant Vice President, director of operations, the patrol captain, 5 lieutenants, 7 sergeants, 6 corporals, 3 detectives, 27 police officers, and communications center manager. The Electrician maintains, repairs, modifies, troubleshoots and installs both new and existing electrical systems at a journey level with minimal supervision; following University safety rules and regulations at all times along with established safety procedures. Work Schedule: Tuesday through Saturday, 7:00am to 3:30pm., with a rotating "late" shift for two weeks, every two months, based on staffing. Late shift is 8:30am to 5:00pm, with the same working days of Tuesday to Saturday.

The HVAC Mechanic is a member of the Facilities Operations. Possessing journey level skills and experience, and with minimum oversight, the HVAC Mechanic is responsible for safely completing a full complement of journey level HVAC tasks, including, but not limited to the inspection, troubleshooting, and repair to a wide-range of campus HVAC equipment. The incumbent follows University safety rules and regulations at all times, along with established safety work procedures. The HVAC Shop members are represented by SEIU Local 175.

As a member of the Facilities Operation, the Fire Alarm Technician will assume responsibility for the installation, analyzing, testing, repairing and maintaining all the campus-wide fire alarms and carbon monoxide devices within the buildings and dormitories at Princeton University. Any repairs or tests that are performed will be in accordance with the National Fire Protection Association (N.F.P.A.) guidelines as adopted into code by the state and local municipalities. Along with Site Protection, all work will be coordinated with the Department of Public Safety and the Fire Marshall's office.
